Ambivalência da representação feminina no imaginário colonial a partir dos romances Zambeziana de Emílio de San Bruno e Ku Kemba de João Salva-Rey

Abstract

A representação das personagens femininas na literatura colonial, muito para além da cor da pele e do seu espaço existencial, ajuda-nos também a compreender tanto as particularidades, as contradições, as ambivalências como a complexidade e profundidade da rede de relações de poder estabelecidas na sociedade colonial, em geral. Ainda que a condição de subordinação e marginalidade em que as mulheres, em geral, estão confinadas, por um lado, e o estendal das representações predominantemente estereotipadas que lhes dão existência, por outro lado, como objeto de conhecimento, elas, as mulheres nativas, particularmente, parecem resistir a todas as tentativas de cristalização através da sua fixação num determinado quadro cultural, civilizacional, ético e estético que se pretende dominante.

The representation of female characters in colonial literature, far beyond skin color and their existential space, helps us to understand both the particularities, contradictions, ambivalences and the complexity and depth of the network of power relations established in colonial society, in general. Even though the condition of subordination and marginality in which women, in general, are confined, on the one hand, and the clothesline of dominantly stereotyped representations that give them existence, on the other hand, as an object of knowledge, they, the native women particularly, seem to resist all attempts of being crystallized through fixation on a certain cultural, civilizational, ethical and aesthetic frame that is intended to be dominant.
