CSPEC is committed to abiding by the ethical review and publication guidelines, as suggested by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).  In kind, the members of the CSPEC editorial board will utilize the COPE guidelines in any cases of misconduct during the review and publication processes. Authors should not misrepresent identities, empirical results, text, or other elements germane to the submission and publication procedures.

If there are ethical concern, the editorial team will follow COPE investigatory procedures.  After the initial internal investigation concludes, the editor will reach out to the corresponding author, and they will be provided an opportunity to address the concerns.

All contents should be original contributions, unless appropriately cited or quoted in accordance with the APA 7th edition Manual. The requirement of original text also precludes the inclusion of self-plagiarism.  Further, all portions of the text, data, and results should be under review solely with CSPEC until after the final decision or publication period.  Finally, in the case of empirical studies, authors should not split up a particular study into parts to increase the amount of publication opportunities (i.e., piecemeal).

Authors commit to the ethical collection, representation, and reporting of data, which includes a priori hypotheses when appropriate, avoiding “data mining,” or misreporting or misrepresenting findings.

Editorial staff maintains the privilege to use plagiarism or artificial intelligence software.

When requested, authors should be prepared to share any documentation or data to substantiate the results presented in a submitted manuscript (sensitive or proprietary information can be excluded or made confidential, when necessary).

Authors are required to correct errors when they identified, which can result in a published correction or redaction, at the decision of the editor.

Authors must report any conflicts of interest, including knowable conflicts with potential reviewers.
